Heavy summer workloads require the assistance of seasonal staff members including the following seasonal positions:
Biological Technicians - Hired through the Alaska FWS Seasonal Advertisement on USAJOBS openings are posted sometime in October/November for one month for the following year’s summer season. 
Bio Techs assist with biological surveys and field camp operations.
Maintenance Workers - Occasionally hired for specific projects. These opportunities are advertised locally.
Student Jobs
- Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) - hires local youth 16 years and older who are enrolled in school.
- Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) - hires students enrolled in a program related to the job, usually undergraduate or graduate students. Participation in the program may lead to permanent employment.
Volunteers - The refuge utilizes volunteers of all ages and skill levels to assist in all refuge activities (pdf) including biological surveys, field operations, maintenance activities and office work. Typical Innoko Refuge volunteers utilize their experience to assist in obtaining future employment. For further information, visit the volunteer web site or contact the refuge office.
